LOUISE CARROLL
DOCUMENTARY TV & FILM PRODUCER
Hello! Thanks for visiting - I’m happy you’re here
After taking my first steps on the humble cobbled streets of Lancashire, England, with the breathtaking views of Bronte Country and legendary musical heritage of Manchester on my doorstep, I made the move to London, as an NCTJ trained journalist, to pursue my dream of working in film and television. Before I knew it, I had over a decade of experience in the industry working with multi-award-winning names such as Netflix, Hulu, CNN International, Peacock / NBC, the BBC, Investigation Discovery (ID), Raw, VICE, ITV, ABC, National Geographic, SyFy, Oxygen and Channel 4.
I'm now based between London, New York and Manchester and, for the last nine years, have worked almost exclusively as a documentary film and television producer for major US / global networks and streamers.
To me, people and their human interactions comprise the world's heartbeat, so I'm deeply drawn to human-centred visual storytelling and delivering emotionally resonant experiences to audiences. It's always a privilege to be generously welcomed into the worlds of those who entrust me to tell their stories and I take great pride in nurturing authentic relationships with these individuals. I empower them to own their unique story and use their authentic voice. I believe this is integral to crafting compelling narratives that are as meaningful to audiences as they are to the tellers.
Whether I'm developing the initial stages of a project or conducting a highly stylised and sensitive contributor interview, I have an instinctive grasp of what it takes to bring a story to the screen. I'm naturally creative, imaginative and curious with a great eye for detail. I never lose sight of fact, research and legals.
People tell me that, as a person, I'm warm, friendly, genuine and calming and have the rare skill of being able to connect with people easily (which is nice to know!). I've worked with a wide range of individuals, from 'real' people to A-listers, and I treat them all with the same care and attention, building fast bonds that ensure the best material.
I've obtained and maintained difficult and sensitive access on most of the films I’ve worked on, building trust with hard-to-reach people and institutions. These include: US prisons and courts, the FBI, Interpol, US and UK police departments, private investigators, prisoners on death row, bounty hunters and families of murder victims, as well as big Hollywood and musical talent, major record labels and talent agents, ex-cons, ex-cult members and survivors of human trafficking, child abduction, internet predators and fraud. I have 27 true crime and investigative series under my belt, amongst others. When dealing with sensitive and tricky subjects, I’m very good at ‘reading the situation’ and thinking on my feet.
I'm also a global storyteller. I've worked on projects across North America, Europe, Asia, South America, Africa and Australia (many of which for CNN International). Forever the adventurer, I regularly travel for work and in my own personal time. I love making films that help us feel closer to our neighbours around the world.
I'm editorially and journalistically strong, highly adaptable, calm, organised and efficient under pressure. I have a roll-up-my-sleeves, can-do attitude. I love the feeling of spinning multiple plates simultaneously and being kept on my toes. The bigger the challenge, the greater I thrive!

When I'm not working you'll generally find me paying frequent trips to Mexico City (my favourite place to be), at a live gig with pint in hand or speaking to a stranger in some random part of the world.
